CSDNB Celebrates Class of 2022 Graduation

More than 500 students in the New Britain High School Class of 2022 received their diplomas on Thursday, June 23 at Veterans Memorial Stadium at Willow Brook Park. City leaders, administrators, classmates, and thousands of family members and friends came to celebrate the momentous day.

The morning began with the annual tradition of a procession down South Main Street and into the stadium as the NBHS Golden Hurricanes Marching Band played “Pomp and Circumstance,” conducted by senior Xavier Bryant, Class of 2022 Drum Major. The ceremony then began with the singing of the National Anthem by Madrigals quartet members Isabella Petrisko, Victoria Rasichanh, Ethan Roy, and Miguel Pagan.

Board of Education President Gayle Sanders-Connolly gave the first greeting, celebrating the class for overcoming the many challenging circumstances they have faced together to reach this point and reminding them to take those lessons into their futures.

“Never underestimate the strength that you have to push you through life’s experiences. Life is a journey filled with joys and hardships, but you have the foundation to carry you through whatever life brings your way. You are resilient,” said Sanders-Connolly. “Get up each day with a sense of purpose; get up, get dressed, and show up. Show up to your life. Be grateful for what you have been through as it is proof that you can do anything that you put your heart and mind to.”
