Finish the Race 2019

On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, over 400 fifth grade students attended the annual "Finish the Race" event at Central CT State University thanks to a partnership with The Ana Grace Project.
The students were greeted by university and community members before learning about some of the opportunities available to them within New Britain if they can stay focused and motivated to "Finish the Race" as they prepare to transition into middle school. After lunch, students met the Blue Devil student athletes and gave different sports a try in their new sneakers donated by Fleet Feet West Hartford- That's right, Fleet Feet West Hartford gave over 400 students new sneakers to keep!!
This day would not be possible without the dedicated partners involved who have committed to fundraising the cost year after year in order to show our students what it's like to spend a day at college. We are grateful for the relationships built and wonderful opportunities afforded to our students year after year because of the kindness of others.
This year's participating schools were Jefferson, Lincoln, Northend, Smith, Smalley and NBTC. Our other elementary schools- Chamberlain, DiLoreto, Gaffney, Holmes and Vance- are scheduled to attend in 2020.
