In the Heights at NBHS


New Britain High School proudly presents our 14th Annual Musical Production when "In the Heights" brings a slice of New York City to our stage on March 22nd at 7PM and March 23rd at 2PM & 7PM. Based on an original idea by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the Broadway smash sensation “Hamilton”, the show tells the story of three days in the lives of the residents of a close-knit Washington Heights neighborhood

All roles are portrayed by New Britain High School students. Manuel Benitez is featured as Usnavi de la Vega, the main protagonist and narrator with Angel de los Santos as his cousin Sonny. Nicholas Giantonio and Claire Palin are Kevin and Camila Rosario, owners of the local cab company, and Leah Gaffney plays their daughter Nina while Dylan Washington plays Benny, their employee who falls for Nina. Sara Colapietro plays Vanessa and Ariana Soto plays Carla, two workers at the neighborhood Salon. The Salon owner, Daniela, is portrayed by Genesis Brown and Haylie Matias (exact performance schedule TBD). Naylea Blanco plays Abuela Claudia, the matriarch of the neighborhood and Miguel Pagan portrays the neighborhood Piragua Guy. These talented performers will be joined by an ensemble of singers and dancers portraying the residents of Washington Heights.

The show will be Directed and Music Directed by Jason Ferrandino (New Britain) with choreography by Christine Kuzia (Plainville). Set design and construction and Lighting/Sound design are by Robert Smedley (New Britain) and the NBHS Stage Crew. The Pit Orchestra will be conducted by Mr. Matthew Sbalcio (Rocky Hill). The Assistant Directors are Jasmine Colapietro (New Britain) and Joseph Foran (New Britain) with Stage Management by Joseph Foran (New Britain). Costume coordination and makeup is by Rob Williamson (Hamden) and Jasmine Colapietro (New Britain) and photography and poster design is by Jason Ferrandino.
New Britain High will bring “In the Heights” to you on March 22nd and 23rd at 7:00 p.m. with a matinee performance on March 23rd at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10. All seating is first come first serve.
