National Reading Month

Lorem Ipsum Dolor

March is National Reading Month, a month-long initiative dedicated to fostering a love of reading for all ages, often celebrated with school, library, and community events, including Read Across America Day.

Little Moments, Big Readers

Episode 4

This four-part series, created by the Gaffney Elementary School team, will highlight tips for parents and guardians to grow their child's literacy skills.

Pequeños Momentos, Grandes Lectores

Episodio 4

Esta serie de cuatro partes, creada por el equipo de la Escuela Primaria Gaffney, destacará consejos para que los padres y tutores desarrollen las habilidades de alfabetización de sus hijos.

The Staff Behind the Series

Gaffney Team

Several Gaffney Elementary School staff members (Scarlett Carroll, Mary Gray, Jena Navarro, Geoff Ponticelli, JP Filigrana, Courtney Scotto, and Mike Kulak) were recognized with Superintendent’s Challenge Coins after being nominated by Anita Fazio, Principal of Gaffney Elementary School, for their exceptional collaboration and commitment to supporting students and families.

As a team of certified staff, they created a four-part video series providing families with practical, research-based strategies to support their child’s language and literacy development at home. Each video was intentionally designed to be brief, engaging, and accessible, and was produced in both English and Spanish to ensure equitable access for families.

The series will be shared here and on Gaffney Elementary School and CSDNB social media platforms to extend its reach and impact. This initiative reflects a strong commitment to family engagement, equity, and instructional excellence, strengthening the home–school partnership and extending learning beyond the classroom in meaningful ways.

New episodes will premiere here at www.csdnb.org/nationalreadingmonth every Thursday, featuring tips for parents and guardians to help their child's literacy skills grow!
