Safety and Security

Protecting our school community through preparedness, partnership, and care.

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and visitors is a shared responsibility and a top priority across the Consolidated School District of New Britain. Our Safety & Security team works in close partnership with school leaders, Operations staff, local first responders, and the broader community to ensure our schools remain safe, secure, and supportive learning environments.

Our approach to school safety is proactive, layered, and grounded in preparedness. Through daily presence, ongoing training, thoughtful planning, and clear communication, we focus on prevention, readiness, and rapid response—always with the goal of minimizing disruptions to learning while maximizing care and support.

What does this look like in our schools?

Our safety efforts include:

  • Trained security personnel

  • Strong partnerships with local police, fire, and emergency services

  • Emergency preparedness planning and regular drills

  • Building access controls and monitoring

  • Clear protocols for reporting concerns
