SBHC

Community Health Center, Inc. is at your school! The School-Based Health Center is offered in the Consolidated School District of New Britain for the benefit of the students. School-based health services work in conjunction with the care provided by your child’s pediatrician and are not intended to replace regular care by your child’s primary health-care provider.

The SBHC offers many services including medical, behavioral health and dental. All children enrolled are eligible to receive services, regardless of their insurance status; CHC accepts most insurance plans. If you have no insurance, please ask SBHC staff about HUSKY insurance.

Descriptions of in-school services

Medical services include evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries. The on-site nurse practitioner can assess, diagnose, and prescribe medications or make referrals when needed. A health history, immunization review, and risk assessment is completed for every enrolled student which also provides an opportunity for health education. You will be notified if vaccines are missing from your child’s school record and given the option of having them administered at the School Based Health Center. Sports physicals are also available throughout the school year.

Behavioral health services include individual and family counseling, family support services, parenting assistance and group counseling. Our licensed therapist is available to assess, diagnose, and treat social and emotional problems.

Mobile dental services are available twice each calendar year and include cleaning, fluoride treatment, exams, sealants (if needed) and education.

School-based health services work in conjunction with the care provided by your child’s pediatrician and are not intended to replace regular care by your child’s primary health-care provider.
