Academics

A smiling young woman in a graduation gown and cap stands in front of a backdrop with text describing the profile of a New Britain graduate.

The Office of Academics' mission is to develop learning environments in which students can develop towards and embody the "Profile of A New Britain Graduate." The Office supports staff and students as they engage in teaching and learning to ensure everyone reaches their highest potential. Through pK-12 programs in Language Arts, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Studies/Humanities, Career Technical Education, and other content areas, the Office strives to engage students cognitively, emotionally, and behaviorally in learning.

In the 2024-25 school year, the Office of Academics and its curriculum coordinators are dedicated to three primary goals:

  • Implementing multi-tiered support systems for academics and behavior to provide each student with the resources they need to succeed.
  • Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to innovate and enhance teaching and learning across content areas.
  • Collaborating with schools to monitor and provide feedback on adult actions aimed at improving student learning outcomes.

The Office of Academics creates professional learning activities across disciplines in leadership, pedagogy, behavioral science, and classroom management. The Office ensures that district-wide teaching and learning activities maintain the highest quality, align with research, and positively impact the lives of a diverse student body.
